5 DAILY DRILLS

OVERVIEW

You don’t need hour-long lab sessions to get better. Ten focused minutes a day beats two hours once a week, every time. Here’s a five-drill Training Mode routine — two minutes each — that sharpens the things that actually win matches.

TJ’s Tip

Consistency beats intensity. Set a two-minute timer per drill so you don’t rabbit-hole on one thing — the goal is a quick, complete tune-up, not a marathon.

1. YOUR BREAD-AND-BUTTER (2 MIN)

Run your go-to combo start to finish, over and over, until you literally can’t drop it. The goal isn’t fancy — it’s automatic. When you’re under pressure in a real match, this is the combo your hands should do without you thinking about it. New to combos? Start with the Combo System Basics guide.

2. PARRY YOUR MOST-HATED MOVE (2 MIN)

Pick the one move from the character that always gets you — the mixup, the poke, the reversal you can never seem to stop. Set the Training dummy to do it on repeat and drill parrying (or blocking) it until the timing lives in your fingers. Turning your worst matchup moment into a free punish is a massive confidence boost.

3. SPAM YOUR FUSE MECHANIC (2 MIN)

Activate your Fuse over and over so triggering it becomes second nature. In a real match you want to fire it the instant the moment is right — not fumble the input and miss the window. Rep it until it’s clean and instant. Not sure which Fuse fits you? See the Fuses Explained guide.

4. TEST A ROUND-START OPTION (2 MIN)

Every round begins in neutral, and that first interaction sets the tone. Pick one round-start option — a specific button, a dash-in, a delayed poke, a backdash — and try it repeatedly to feel how it trades against the dummy. Having a couple of go-to round-start plans keeps you from freezing at the buzzer.

5. LOCK IN A BLOCK STRING (2 MIN)

Practice one solid block string — a pressure sequence that keeps the opponent stuck blocking while you stay safely on offense. Knowing one string you trust means that when you score a knockdown, you have an actual plan instead of mashing and hoping.

DO IT DAILY

Ten minutes, five drills, every day. Run this for two weeks and you’ll feel the difference in your matches — cleaner combos, fewer scary moments, and a real game plan from the opening buzzer. Want a GrandMaster to build a routine around your weaknesses? Book a coaching session.
